The "new national standard" of paper cup puts forward higher requirements than industry standards for raw materials, additives, products, packaging and printing of paper cup. In terms of raw materials, the paper cup shall not have peculiar smell and recycled materials shall not be used. The additives used in raw materials shall comply with the regulations. Fluorescent brightener, industrial paraffin, industrial talc powder and other additives not within the scope of GB968s shall not be used for the production and processing of paper cups.
In addition, the standard also stipulates the stiffness and permeability of the paper cup, and the bottom and side of the paper cup shall be free of water leakage and seepage. All packaging materials of the paper cup shall have sufficient tightness and firmness, and the paper cup packaging shall be dust-proof, moisture-proof or mildew proof.
It is worth noting that the "new national standard" puts forward specific requirements for the printing position for the first time, requiring that "the cup mouth shall not be printed within 15mm from the cup body and the cup bottom shall not be printed within 10mm from the cup body". The mouth is often in contact with the cup mouth. If a pattern is printed at the cup mouth, harmful solvents such as benzene, toluene and xylene contained in the ink will do harm to the body.
It is reported that the national standards of paper bowl and paper lunch box are also issued and implemented at the same time as the new national standard of paper cup. The introduction of these three national standards for paper products has ended the defect that paper food packaging container products do not have national standards.
Most paper cups sold in Shanghai do not meet the "new regulations"

During the visit, the reporter found that at present, disposable water cups are mainly divided into paper cups and plastic cups. There are seven or eight kinds of disposable paper cups in Yimai's Changjiang West Road store. Although many paper cups have slogans such as "thickening", "no leakage" and "healthy and tasteless", there are only two kinds that can meet the new national standard printing standards, both of which have no printed patterns on the cup body. Most other paper cups wear "colored clothes" from the mouth to the bottom. Even if some cups are blank, they still fail to meet the standard of "15mm".
In many convenience stores, clerks use disposable paper cups to put cooked snacks such as Kanto cooking for customers. The reporter then interviewed ten citizens. They were unaware of the "new national standard". Most of them often only pay attention to the brand and the thickness of the paper cup when buying disposable paper cups.
